Eyeliners are available in different types and colors and choosing the right one can prove to be a daunting task. In the following, we have listed some of the popular eyeliner types. The perfect line comes within a few days or weeks of practice. If you are a teenager, you can take help from your mother or sister. You can use different strokes and lines, depending on your mood and the occasion.

1. Liquid eyeliner
Liquid eyeliner is preferred to give a glamorous definition to eyes. They give a well-defined line and the look of lush eyelashes. Liquid eyeliner can be a little difficult to use if you are a beginner as it needs a steady hand. They are the best eyeliner for detailing but cannot be smudged or applied on the waterline; however, it lasts longer. The application can be done with a brush or a felt tip marker. A felt tip is used to allow more control of the line. Liquid eyeliner is preferred to create a dramatic effect as well.

2. Powder-based eye pencil
The powder-based eye pencil is used for a less detailed and smokier look but is quite easy to use. These eye pencils give a subtle look, enhancing the eye without too much of color. It can be used to trace along with the shape of the eyes and can be smudged as required. It may also be used in combination with gel and liquid eyeliner.

3. Regular pencil eyeliner
Regular pencil eyeliner is the most commonly used eyeliner and is easy to use and manage. It is a multipurpose liner and can be used for the waterline or tight lining. A pencil eyeliner can be used by beginners and are waterproof. A pencil eyeliner is easy to find in all brands and are also available in many colors like bright blue, green, orange, and purple other than the traditional black, brown, and grey.

4. Kohl pencils
The eyeliner pencils could be wax-based eye pencils made mostly with waxes or soft materials. They glide along well and are easy to apply. Kajal or Kohl eyeliner pencils are creamier than the regular ones and are easier to smudge. They are waterproof and can be used on the waterline. The rich, dense pigment can also be used without further detailing or layering and gives the effect of smoldering eyes. Since the lines crease faster, they might not last long enough. There are various options available in eyeliner pencils which can be chosen by contact lens wearers to avoid allergies.

5. Gel or cream eyeliner
Gel or cream eyeliners are used mostly by make-up artists. These can be applied with a brush or pencil. Using a brush helps give a precise line. Since it has a waxy consistency, it will stay for a longer time and is waterproof. Gel eyeliner is prone to smudging and hence care should be taken not to rub your eyes. A pencil is better to apply to the waterline. The eyeliner is creamy and can take a little longer to dry and cannot be used in a hurry. The gel comes in a small container and may not be very handy. It is not easy to remove the eyeliner as it can have a sticky consistency.

6. Shimmer liner
A shimmer or glitter eyeliner which were earlier used for parties or occasions have now become a part of the daily makeup. It is used along with the regular eyeliner pencils and the styles can be changed according to the occasions. The shimmer is added on the upper eyelid, lower lash line, or the inner corner of the eye for different effects.
